Good Hair, Good Movie

Yesterday I watched Chris Rock’s ‘Good Hair’ it’s sort of a comedic documentary, although some serious issues are touched on, it has chris rock and some super gay black hairdressers so guaranteed lols. As a black girl I knew most of what was talked about in the movie, but its interesting to know I’m not the only one who’s a slave to my hair. One woman described my condition exactly “I’m on the creamy crack” aka relaxing cream, acid that at some point or another 90% put in their hair to make it straight, and once you start its damn hard to stop-I would know I’ve been relaxing my hair since about 13. And the creamy crack is just the beginning of the $6 billion black hair industry, and then there’s weaves 99.98% of all black women you see on screen have some sort of weave and average women are spending $1300 on a weave. We are crazy.

All in all I really enjoyed it, a good balance between informative and funny and a couple of golden rules that people should remeber. One of the big ones, for any guy dating a black woman; do not touch her hair, unless you’re 100% sure its hers. Women will go loco over that! I think all black women should watch it fo’ sho’ but also I think a lot of white women would find this damn interesting. So yeah watch it, or not. Whatever.
